Call to Action!
January 25, 2010
If you have not already done so, please contact your state representative ASAP and ask him or her to support HB 1063, energy efficient buildings!
House of Representatives Phone - 800/382-9841
Email - http://www.in.gov/cgi-bin/legislative/contact/contact.pl
HB 1063 - Energy Efficient Buildings - HB 1063, energy efficient buildings, authored by Rep. Matt Pierce (D-Bloomington), requires certain government buildings to be designed and constructed or renovated to achieve or exceed the performance criteria determined under certain rating systems. AIA Indiana strongly supports this measure and was the first to testify in favor of it in the House Environmental Affairs Committee.
The bill passed out of committee with a vote count of 8-3 and is now eligible for a vote on the House floor. It will likely be voted on this week by the full House.

New Indiana Energy Code
Please see the proposed amendments to the ASHRAE 90.1 – 2007 Edition. The target date for completion and implementation is December 2009/January 2010 in order to meet federal mandates. Note in particular the proposed deletion of Section 11 on performance approach. It is believed that plan review and local officials will have trouble understanding and enforcing it.
