Eligibility and Authorship |
All entries must be a constructed work of architecture, either a building, a complex of buildings and related spaces, or an implemented urban design project built anywhere in Indiana within the past five (5) years. Completion is synonymous with substantial completion as defined in the standard AIA documents governing construction. For consideration in this years award program, the earliest substantial completion date within five (5) years will be October 2, 2004.
The entry is to be submitted by the architect of record of the project, and that architect must be a licensed architect in Indiana and maintain a primary office in Indiana.
The submitting architect may qualify as a member of a design team, design-build team, or other type of project delivery method, but must have the primary responsibility for the project's design. Entries/projects designed while with another firm can be submitted if the person submitting such work is the architect of record for the project and an Indiana registered architect.
An individual or firm may submit more than one entry. It is recommended the architect inform the owner of whose project is to be submitted that the project has been entered in this awards program. Entries submitted to previous AIA Indiana Annual Awards Programs may be resubmitted if they did not receive an award.

Entries in the Design Honor Awards Program will be judged by an eminent architectural jury or peers from AIA Birmingham.
Typically, jury members are members of similar AIA Chapters and are often past recipients of AIA Design Honor Awards. Many have previous AIA design jury experience at the local, regional, and national level. Jury members represent a cross section of our profession with backgrounds in small and large private practices, public or governmental practice, educational, art and allied professions, and architectural critics. If possible, the jury members will be organized and published prior to the date scheduled for submittal of entries.
If necessary, substitutions for any jury members will be announced to the membership of AIA Indiana. It is the intention of AIA Indiana to publish jury members and their respective comments regarding the award recipients at the time of the presentation of the awards. Comments on entries that do not receive an award are typically not provided.
All decisions of this jury are final and independent from AIA Indiana, its officers, directors, committee members, and staff. The AIA Indiana Awards Committee does not participate in the jury deliberations, but will organize the jury, ship and receive entries to and from the jury for deliberations, and facilitate preparation and presentation of the awards.

Jurors of previous AIA Indiana award programs have traditionally recognized three classifications of awards:
Awards have been given in each category, but it is the liberty of the jury to present awards as they rule appropriate.
